Sentient Species

Defined as an people of entities who are A) self aware, B) capable of abstract thinking, and C) capable of higher reasoning, over thirty thousand species are recognised by the historic records. Not all still exist.

This is a very small selection of confirmed sentient species. Hybrids between these species are possible, but are unlikely to be listed.

Abednedo (pl. Abednedos): A humanoid mammalian species with a pair of fleshy nostrils and brown/cream/tan/gray/orange/pink skin (always muted colours), abednedo are partially aquatic, adapted for damp enviroments. Uncommon, but not rare throughout the galaxy, hailing from a planet that they gained their name from.

Cerean (pl. Cereans): Humanoid mammals from the planet Cerea, the Cerean people are distinguished by their englared skulls. They are rare, due to their low birth rates. While visually similar to pale-skinned humans, cereans are distinctly different, with two hearts, enlarged brains, and an ability to multitask, which is an ability humans do not posses.

Devaronian (pl. Devaronians): A bipedal mammalian species with high sexual dimorphism. Males of this species have red skin and large skull-based horns, while females have prominent canine teeth, no horns, and thick fur across the body in brown or white. Best known for their resistence to poison and toxins.

Most kiffars are Force-aware, and rarely are Force-sensitives given to the Jedi to raise and care for.

Pantoran (pl. Pantorans): Known for their blue skin, yellow eyes, and yellow facial tattoos, the pantoran people are native to Pantora, a moon, and are adapted to the cold enviroment of their moon. Pantoran hair comes in a variety of natural colours, from white to black.

Togruta (pl. Togrutas) Characterised by a variety of warm skin tones, their large montrals (a type of sensory organ upon the head), three lekku and facial patterns, the togruta are often sold as slaves. While not rare, it is uncommon to see them away from their home planet of Shili.

Twi'lek (pl. Twi'leks) Known for the variety of skin colours and their beauty, twi'leks are a near-human species with a pair of lekku (occasionally this would mutuate into more then one or a single lek). From the planet Ryloth, twi'lek are one of the most common species in the galaxy, alongside humans, and are frequently bought and sold as slaves.

Weequay (pl. Weequays) Hailing from Sriluur, weequay are common throughout the galaxy, best known for their leathery skin made for desert enviroments, which is resistant to blaster fire. Stereotypically, weequay are pirates and mercenaries. They are humanoid, with five digits per hand and two legs.

Zabrak (pl. Zabraks) A near-human species from Iridonia and Dathomir, featuring distinct vestigal horns upon the heads, as well as a pair of hearts. The Nightsisters of Dathomir are best recognised for the lack of these horns, despite being zabraks. Tattoos play an important role in the culture of zabraks, with most gaining their tattoos as very young children. They are carnivorous, and frequently have some level of awareness or sensitivity to the Force, although not always.
